Introduction
This year is the centenary of the opening of the North Island Main Trunk Railway. One of the main events, recognised by the NZ Government, to celebrate this occasion will be a 4 day rail festival based at Feilding, Manawatu, New Zealand, over Labour Weekend 2008.

Mainline Steam, Steam Incorporated, Pahiatua Railcar Society, Feilding and District Steam Rail Society and Feilding Promotion Inc. have joined forces to co-ordinate various train excursions in the lower North Island .

Added to the variety of train trips is a support programme of Manawatu regional attractions, events, tours and special community activities for both locals and visitors to enjoy a real celebration of our railway heritage.
